Garbhein is 6 miles from Glencoe, nestled above picturesque Loch Leven, with stunning 360-degree mountain views. A 10-minute walk from friendly Kinlochleven, this lovely nineteenth-century deer stalker’s cottage combines traditional charm with modern luxury, total peace with local amenities. The cottage is perfect as a romantic getaway, retreat, or base for outdoor sports and sightseeing, offering comfortable, cosy, flexible accommodation to suit solo travellers, couples, families and friends.
The space
The decor is light and bright and the views surrounding the cottage are beautiful.
Wild deer can sometimes be seen grazing on the hillside and in the pasture at the front, especially during winter when they come down the mountain to sleep.
The cottage contains two bedrooms, each with a king size bed, and two bathrooms, one on each floor, the one for the second bedroom is ensuite. The cottage comfortably accommodates 4 people. By prior arrangement a single bed can be brought in to the downstairs bedroom to add flexibility to the sleeping arrangements.
There is a log burning stove, gas central heating and a combination boiler that provides instant hot water.
The well-equipped kitchen includes an oven, microwave, fridge, separate freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.
The internet connection is excellent and there is a TV, DVD player and Bluetooth music system, which you can connect to other devices to play your own music. We also provide a selection of DVDs and CDs for your use.
This is a place to come if you are looking for a peaceful holiday in a snug retreat amid the spectacular beauty of the Highlands. We love this cottage and hope that you will enjoy staying here.

Additional Information
We have only relatively recently bought Garbhein Cottage, but it has been a very popular holiday let for 6 years, during which time it had 100% 5* reviews. I am working with the lovely previous owners to maintain the high standard they set as hosts.
Please note, although the house itself is fine for babies (you’ll need to bring a travel cot) and children, they should be supervised at all times in the unenclosed garden. Similarly, dogs can easily roam beyond the garden, and there are deer in the area.
Please get in touch if you can’t see the dates you wish to book, we may be able to offer flexibility.
If you will be bringing a dog with you, please let us know when you book.
We provide a starter supply of logs/kindle, and you can buy more of both locally as required. Logs can be used in the wood burning stove in the lounge, and in the fire pit outside (both are wood only).
Although there is a local bus service running between Kinlochleven and Fort William, you’ll really need a car to tour the area properly, although you can get essentials down in the village, 10 mins walk away. There is parking beside Garbhein Cottage for one car. The track is gravelled and well drained, accessible to all domestic vehicles.
Additional rules
A fifth person can be be accommodated by arrangement on a good quality bed, with a supplement of £20 pppn.
You are welcome to bring your dog for an extra £30 per stay.
Kinlochleven, Lochaber, Scotland, United Kingdom
Garbhein Cottage is located in the heart of the spectacular beauty of the Scottish Highlands, close to Glencoe, 21 miles from Fort William, and an hour from Oban. The small, friendly village of Kinlochleven is 1 mile away and from there you can join the West Highland Way going in two directions. The village has a good range of amenities, including 2 pubs, a Co-op, Post Office, and Ice Factor, with Europe’s largest ice climbing wall, regular climbing wall, excellent cafe and grill. Near to Ice Factor is Scotland’s only Via Ferrata, a unique and exciting activity that runs beside the third biggest waterfall in Scotland, The Grey Mare’s Tail. From the village, there is a lovely walk to visit this waterfall.
“Highly recommend Anna’s cosy cottage. We booked it for Christmas and had the most wonderful stay. The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed. Photos just don’t do the place justices, the views are just absolutely stunning.”

“Lovely, cosy cottage perfectly located for spectacular scenery and walks, with deer never far from view. House was spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. Excellent communication and a warm welcome from Anna. Lots of homely touches and the log fire made winter evenings in perfect. The added bonus for us is that our dog was welcome. He had a great time! We'd love to come back.”

“A fabulous relaxing cottage with cosy fires galore inside and out, The cottage felt like home immediately and had all the aminities we could possibly need for our stay, including lovely little added things such as some binoculars, maps and the all important games. We loved our stay here and found Kinlochleven the perfect location for exploring, we would like to time out next visit to when the seafood restaurant is open, all in all a fantastic stay we will be back very soon xxx”

“We booked a 5 night stay at Anna's cottage, we were hoping for snow on the slopes for my son to go snowboarding but unfortunately there was none. We were a bit unfortunate with the weather, it was wet almost all the time we were there and we also struggled to find places to eat locally that were open due to it being off season. We did have a meal at The Bothy Bar just on the outskirts of the village and it was lovely. The cottage is lovely and we enjoyed using the log burner as did the dog who loved lying in front of it. We had hoped to walk into the village but felt it was not safe to do so as there are no pavements and the road is full of turns. The cottage is spotlessly clean and Anna replies to any messages very promptly, we would go back again.”

“Fantastic little cottage - felt like home for a few days. A great base to explore from and also a restful place to return to. Great views and lovely watching the deer. We left some whiskey in the hope that this tradition continues (some was left for us and it was very gratefully received!)”
